No Happy Hour Saturday!

I worked all week last week and enjoyed myself. Worked like a dog to get my report cards done and printed. I was feeling a little (lot) tired by the time Friday rolled around. Figured it was allergies. Saturday brought a sappy me with aches, a sore throat , and fever. I have since learned that this is cause for alarm with chemo. Paul called the consulting nurse and we were told to show up at St. Joe's Emergency. Oh my goodness...where do you absolutely not want to be late on a Saturday night? The sounds.......! Learning curve is high.."Code Yellow" means trauma coming to Emergency. "Code Blue" means stopped heart. I guess we don't watch enough television! They took lots of blood to check for a multitude of things. Found nothing much in all that so pumped me full of IV antibiotics..figure that out. But it did reduce my fever so I got to go home!

  1. Leah, emergency rooms are like a different world. Sorry to hear that you had to spend your Saturday night pumping antibiotics instead of a wine of your choice. Hey, maybe they (or you!) can come up with an IV concoction mixed with a yummy WallaWalla red that you sip in a wine glass. I am so glad you got to spend the night in your own bed!
I had to do my knee pre-op on TH and when I was finished up, since the whole thing took quite a while, I figured I should do a bathroom stop before heading home. But while I was just getting started, lights and bells began going off. I thought it was a fire...What do you do in that position? Get done and get out. It turned out to be a "Code Red" situation. When I stepped out of the bathroom everyone seemed to be going about their business. Not like at ENT when we do a fire drill and the energy level skyrockets and everyone heads for the door.
Here's hoping for a pleasant Sunday. And you'll have to catch up on your beverages from last night! Hey, why not, you're done with report cards. It's a coast from here till 11:10 Wednesday, yes? Love you!

  2. Wow! Bad Saturday night for sure. I hope you are feeling much better today with the aches, pains and fever GONE. Only 2 1/2 more days left until summer is official!
